The weather gods have been giving us hope that winter may never arrive, but this weekend looks like the turning point that winter is now upon us.
The thing with winter, unlike summer, is it’s actually very predictable; we know for certain we are going to get a winter…. summer on the other hand?
Winter is like certain people, you never know when they’re going to show up, you just know they will, at some point.
If the thought of winter isn’t enough to make everyone go mad, we also had a full moon last night so no doubt that also has wreaked some havoc in your day to day.
Look if it can mess with the tides (which are much greater than you and I), it can certainly mess with peoples minds.
I’d like it to just stay in one place and not mess with my feng shui.
Winter Arrives
I’ll shut up about the moon, and give you the information you’re after. The wintry weather.
I don’t even want to write it. I can do a short synopsis of what we have in store:
- Today: Sunny but also drizzly and a bit cold.
- Sunday: Cold and wet.
- Monday: Sh1t, snowy and icy.
- Tuesday: Less crap, but get the salt ready for ice.
Does that work for all of you?! Probably not.
Weather Forecast
Today will be dry with bright or sunny intervals then a risk of a few showers in the evening and overnight.
The wind will start to pick up and be a NW 15-20, soon increasing 20-25 for a time.
There will be a high temperature of 10C and a low of 4C.
However, Sunday is quite the different picture – get out the snow boots, thermals and gloves, as the temperatures are going down (it’s going timber).
You can welcome back 3C, and I quite frankly can’t be bloody arsed with it.
I get chill blains on my thighs, and my wrist that I broke quite some time ago but was a smart arse about and never let fully heal starts to ache like hell, and just generally I hate the cold.
It’ll start with sunshine and isolated showers, then cloud will increase through the day with areas of rain developing.
So not only will it be cold, it’ll also pee it down with 5-15mm of rain forecast.
Snow Day?
Looking into the next week, it is a mixed bag that brings ‘hope’ of a snow day.
By snow day I mean a bit of sludge and everyone forgetting how to drive, but hopefully it’ll bring some entertainment on Broadway from your man who films the chaos out of his flat window.
Monday (November 18), do you know what I actually love November 18 – it is my favourite day for reasons to not be revealed. Anyway enough about me; we are likely to get some sleet.
It’ll be largely cloudy with rain at times, and this may turn wintry overnight into Tuesday, mainly on higher ground.
The temperature will peak at 8C with lows of 2C.
The wind is will pick up from a E or SE 10-20, to a 20-25, becoming N or NE 15-25 later.
The Met Office‘s comments are: “Strong winds. Risk of ice overnight into Tuesday. Risk of coastal overtopping around high tide.”
Showers in Winter
Tuesday (November 19) – the aftermath of the big sleet.
Any rain and sleet will clear to “wintry showers”, I still don’t know what that means, but yes wintry showers?
Wind will be a N or NE 20-25, backing N or NW later.
Oh and before I forget, theres a risk of coastal overtopping around high tide for Tuesday too.
That’s all folks. Welcome back to winter.
