Warning after two near fatal overdoses

A warning has been issued after emergency services attended two near-fatal heroin overdoses yesterday evening.

Manx Care said anyone who has recently consumed this drug or knows of anyone who has recently consumed this drug to seek urgent medical advice from Nobles Hospital.

In a joint statement, Manx Care and the Police said: “If you have recently purchased this drug and have not taken it, we strongly advise that you dispose of the drug appropriately and safely.”

“Early signs of a heroin overdose are pin-point pupils, drowsiness, loss of consciousness, slowed breathing/ snoring and skin turning blue / grey.”

Both persons who overdosed last night survived following medical intervention.
