Temporary speed limit in Kirk Michael

As of today (March 11) there will be a temporary 40mph speed limit in the area of Rhencullen to Kirk Michael Village.

Temporary traffic lights will also be in place whilst works are ongoing.

The footway clearance work will consist of scraping back vegetation that had grown out onto the surface of the footway and so reducing the width available for pedestrians.

This continues similar work that was done last year between Douglas and Ballacraine and Ballacraine to Cronk Y Voddy.

Works in Kirk Michael

The Department of Infrastructure (DOI) team will be working from Rhencullen and will travel north towards Michael Village.

It says that “as this work will require one lane to be closed, temporary traffic lights will be used to maintain two way traffic”.

A temporary 40mph speed limit will be in place, with a drop down to 20mph when passing the work site.

The Department asks the general public to please be aware the location of traffic lights will shift as work progresses.
