Health Minister Claire Christian says Manx Care and the British Medical Association have reached a deal that see this week’s strike action cancelled.
The BMA had been due to walk out for 48 hours later this week.
However, Ms Christian told Tynwald that a deal was struck late on Monday night.
She said: Late last night, Manx care and the BMA reached an agreed position on the terms of a revised offer, and this will now be formally put to the membership.
“I am pleased to report that the industrial action plan for this week will now be deferred. In view of this Manx care has negotiated and offered several options to try to address discrepancies in pay in comparison with their UK counterparts.
“And the agreement has been based on these principles, details, details will follow once the two parties have concluded their deliberations.
“I would like to pay tribute to the efforts of Manx care and to the British Medical Association for continuing their discussions in an open way with the support of the Manx Industrial Relations Service.”
Facing a follow up question, Ms Christian said the money needed for the pay deal will come from existing budgets.
While some patients have already been informed their appointments have been cancelled due to the planned action, Ms Christian said Manx care will “endeavour to contact affected patients by the end of today to reinstate appointments where possible”.
Ms Christian has not outlined any details of the deal, other than saying it offers parity with doctors in the UK.
