Ramsey Rugby Club are looking for more girls to join the club with the hopes of competing in the UK.
The club offers training for under 12’s and under 16’s, but currently doesn’t have enough for full teams in each age range.
Girls training is on Tuesday’s at 6:30pm at the Mooragh in Ramsey.
Along with the girls teams, the club have teams for mixed rugby with the age groups ranging from under 7 to under 11 and a boys groups from under 12 to under 16.
The training takes place under the floodlights, but alas – don’t worry if its cold as hot chocolate and biscuits are provided post training.

Ramsey Rugby Club
Under the expert tutelage of Graham Atkinson and Peter Hooson-Owen, Rugby Union was introduced as a curriculum sport at Ramsey Grammar School in the mid 1970s. Both Graham and Peter were playing for Douglas Rugby Club at that time and were keen to share their knowledge with an eager northern audience.
The decision to form a team was easy to take and in the late 1970s the first Ramsey side took the field. The game was played against Douglas and Ramsey won.
In the early days, kit was borrowed as was the odd player needed to make up the numbers. The club took part in the big Douglas Easter Festivals as well as playing friendlies against the local sides.
On December 1, 1982 was finally admitted to membership of the RFU.
The club was listed in the RFU Club directory and contact details were instantly available to clubs around England.
Since then the club has gone from strength to strength, now having the Mooragh as its home, teams across all genders and ages.
