Noble’s Hospital Pharmacy now has two accredited technicians, and two currently ongoing training to become accredited in Medicines Management.
Since July 2023, Manx Care has implemented medicines management pharmacy technicians, who play a key role in the Clinical Pharmacy service.
When admitted to hospital, a member of the Pharmacy team will speak to you about your medicines.
Manx Care says this part of the conversation is to establish a clear and accurate list of your medicines, using multiple sources, such as your GP record and clinic letters, but first and foremost speaking to you, the patient, about how you take your medicines.

This conversation allows the team to understand how you use your medicines, counsel and advise you on how to optimise the use of your medicines, and also ensure that upon admission to hospital, any changes to your medicines are purposeful and documented.
Its medicines management technicians are also trained in discharge facilitation.
This allows them to advise you when you’re discharged, ensuring you are aware of any changes to your medicines and giving you an opportunity to ask any questions.
On admission, almost half of all patients are seen by Pharmacy Technicians first, which allows the Pharmacists to utilise their clinical skills more effectively.
