The IOMFA has thanked Blane Slattery for his work and effort as the men’s national manager after his decision to step down
Blane led the side to the Island Games in Guernsey in 2023 and he was working towards the Orkney Island Games in 2025.
The IOMFA said: “Blane decided to step down as team manager following new demands in a new work role.
“The Association wish him the best of luck with everything in the future, both on and off the field.”
President Tony Mepham added his thanks to Blane, telling Upfront Footy: “It’s a huge shame. Blane managed the team in Guernsey and has assembled a really exciting, young, and talented squad this year.
“I truly believe this would have been a great opportunity for him to show his abilities as a manager. However, I fully understand and accept his decision to step away and thank him for the job he has done.”
He added: “Being in attendance at last night’s meeting, it was incredible to see the gratitude from the whole squad displayed towards Blane.
“It was also fantastic to see the attitude of the players towards this summer’s tournament, as, despite not having a manager, they have agreed to continue training as a group until one is appointed. They remain committed to bringing the gold home next summer.”
