Lady Lorimer Earns Her Climbing Badge

Sir John and Lady Lorimer have opened a new climbing wall at the Scout campsite in Malew.

Named Sophie’s Wall, the climbing set up commemorates a little girl with mobility issues who passed away, and whose mother is a Scout leaders.

The wall has been built to make it suitable for younger children, or those who are less able.

Lady Lorimer was the first to tackle the wall, which has been funded by the Manx Lottery Trust. The Trust has also funded the cost and installation of defibrillators for Scout huts across the island.

Government House said: “Welcomed by President, Peter Kelly MBE CP RBV, Chairman, James Kite, and Island Commissioner, Guy Thompson MBE, His Excellency was pleased to officially declare the wall open!”
