Harriet’s Dream Come True

Seven-year-old Harriet Bailey’s dream came true at the weekend as she won the Pony Club Eventing Areas with her seven-year-old pony, Flopsy.

Harriet won the under 13’s section of the Pony Club 70cm one day event in Richmond, North Yorkshire at the weekend.

The pair finished on their brilliant dressage score of 22, which is even more impressive when Flopsy hadn’t done a dressage test until nine months ago.

They then went on to jump a brilliant showjumping round, followed by a clear cross country.

Dream Come True

Prior to becoming part of the Bailey family in September last year, Flopsy was a showjumping pony, and although Harriet’s mum says ‘she wasn’t the most suitable’ pony, Harriet decided she was the one for her.

Harriet was clearly right as the pair have gone from strength to strength over the winter and after ‘huge’ amounts of training in all phases it came together on ‘the best possible day’.

Hazel, Harriet’s mum said: “Flopsy has never done a one day event before but has scope to burn and has mostly taken to it all like a duck to water.”

Harriet was part of a team from Isle of Man Pony Club, and as well as winning the individual class the team also won the team event.

The Pony Club Championships will be held at Kelsall Hill, Cheshire in August.
