The chair of Ramsey Commissioners says the resignation of Lawrie Hooper as health minister shows he was ‘unhappy’ with what was happening in the health department.
Rob Cowell said the former minister wasn’t doing enough to change the decision around the permanent weekend closure of the Ramsey Minor Injuries Unit.
Mr Hooper resigned yesterday, saying his views and those of Chief Minister Alfred Cannan about the future of the NHS had “diverged”.
However Mr Cowell says the Ramsey MHK has put the concerns of his constituents first:
