The Roads Policing Unit has had a busy star to the MGP festival period, seizing two cars in the first day.
Both cars were seized after incidents on or approaching the Mountain Road.
The first car was seized after police witnessed what the RPU said was “vehicle doing some questionable overtakes”.
However, it was the state of the car that interested them the most.
The RPU said: “The driver was stopped, spoken too, and officers spotted some questionable issues with the car, and on taking a closer look, deemed the vehicle to be defective.
“The vehicle has now been seized, and will be subjected to a full road-worthiness examination in due course.”
Uplifting
Officers on patrol latter stopped a vehicle and on conducting routine checks, officers identified that the road tax was “well out” (M8).
The RPU said: “As such, the vehicle has been seized, and the driver will be dealt with in due course. No road tax = No car. Please check your vehicles before taking it for a drive / ride. We’re out and about, don’t become an MGP statistic!”
Speeding
Officers also stopped a speeding car which happened just 42 minutes into the Manx Grand Prix operation.
The driver was said to be “well above a posted speed limit”.
The RPU said: “Normally an endorsable fixed penalty would be issued to someone speeding, but in extreme cases whereby someone is going well in excess of the speed limit, a court date awaits!”
