Askin retires after 23 years in fire and rescue service

Last week, the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service (IOMFRS) said goodbye to Firefighter Floyd Askin as he retires after over 23 years of service.

Floyd first joined the service as a retained Firefighter in 2001, before joining the wholetime service in 2002.

The Fire and Rescue Service say that Askin has ‘been a big part of life at Douglas Fire Station ever since’.

23 years of service

As well as being an ‘amazing’ firefighter, he was part of the team to break the “World Ladder Climb Record”, becoming a Guinness World Champion.

The service took to social media to wish their friend and former colleague, Floyd, a very happy and healthy retirement.
